A recent report released by The National Association of Home Builders shows residential construction spending increasing 17.2% over the last 12 months. Here are some additional highlights from the report.
- Just in 2013, remodeling related spending has increased 6.5%, single-family spending has increased by 11.6% and multifamily spending has increased 16.0%.
- Since 2009, total private residential construction spending is up 46.4%, single-family 84.5%, multifamily 143.8%, and improvement-related spending 29%.
- In July, single-family spending increased 0.5% for the month, remodeling related spending increased 0.8%, and multifamily remained nearly unchanged with an increase of 0.1% for the month. The slow-down may be related to the effects of an increase in mortgage interest rates that has slowed both new and pending home sales.
