Colland Drive.Before.After

Epic Development was recently awarded a Silver Design Award from Professional Remodeler magazine for our whole house renovation on Colland Drive in the Collier Hills neighborhood of Buckhead.  We received our award at the Professional Remodeler Leadership Awards at the University Club of Chicago.

Our Project Designer wanted to transform a dated, functionally obsolete 1940’s bungalow into a home with a renovated traditional exterior and a more modern, transitional interior.  The new design incorporated a more open floor plan and outside living areas.  The renovation covered every facet of the home including a new kitchen that opened to a family room, formerly the dining room, new hall bathroom, new master suite with redesigned master closet and master bath, the addition of an outdoor living area and the addition of a two car garage.  The owner wanted to transform the unappealing front façade, which had been altered over the years, into something stylish and inviting, yet still within the character of the 1940’s neighborhood.  The narrow in-town lot limited the options for increasing the foot print of the home, but a detached 2 car garage was located behind the structure to maximize the natural light into the main structure.  An older shed roof from a prior addition was removed allowing for higher interior ceiling heights in this part of the home and the creation of the outdoor living area.  Professional landscaping included a new sprinkler system, sod for the front and rear yards, a remote activated driveway gate, ample shrubs and exterior accent lighting.
