BuilderOnline and Metrostudy has named Atlanta one of the top ten markets for new residential construction. Metrostudy’s data shows that detached and attached new home starts are up by nearly 1,000 units for the second quarter of 2014 when compared to the first quarter. When compared to the same quarter in 2013, starts are up by more than 500 homes. The report states that the “Golden Triangle”, the area north of the Connector from I-75 in Cobb to I-85 in DeKalb and Gwinnett, is extremely strong.
Across the country, housing starts remain strong with numbers up 15.7% this year. The other top ten markets include Reno, Rio Grande Valley, Southern California, Chicago, Nashville, St. George/Mesquite, Sarasota/Brandenton, Charlotte, and Naples/Ft. Myers. Metrostudy predicts another 18% increase in single-family housing starts in 2015.
